Motorola Launches Edge (2024) with Upgraded Features

TapTechNews June 5th news, Motorola officially launched the Motorola Edge (2024) phone yesterday, as the successor of the Edge (2023) phone launched in October 2023, mainly improving the processor and main camera.

The Motorola Edge (2024) is equipped with a 6.6-inch pOLED display with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The panel offers 10-bit color, with a peak brightness of up to 1300 nits, and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

This phone is equipped with the Snapdragon 7s Gen2 processor with a main frequency of 2.4 GHz. Compared with the Dimensity 7030 SoC of last year's model, the multi-core performance of the Snapdragon 7s Gen2 is improved by about 22%, and the GPU performance is improved by 11%.

The phone is equipped with 8GB LPDDR4X memory and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage space.

In terms of the camera, this phone uses the 50-million-pixel Sony LYT-700C sensor as the main camera, which is an improvement compared to the 50-million-pixel Omnivision OV50A sensor used by last year's model.

The second camera on the back is a 13-million-pixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and can be used for macro shooting. The front camera is a 32-million-pixel self-timer lens with an aperture of f/2.4, and adopts QuadPixel technology (pixel binning).

The phone runs on Android 14 system, has a built-in 5,000 mAh battery, and supports 68W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Other highlights include dust-proof and water-resistant (IP68) rating, 5G connection (SA/NSA), dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11ax (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, USB Type-C, NFC, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

There is also a customizable quick button on the phone, which can be used as a shortcut to start the camera, gallery or other applications. The Motorola Edge (2024) has a price of $549.99 (TapTechNews note: currently about 3987 Chinese yuan), and will be released on June 20.
