On Saturday, Musk wrote on X that the supercomputing cluster of the Texas super factory is named Cortex, and noted that he just completed the drill of the new facility. Cortex has approximately 100,000 Nvidia H100 and H200 chips, which are used to train the neural networks of fully autonomous driving (FSD) and the humanoid robot Optimus.

TapTechNews noticed that Musk had previously detailed the huge cooling demand of the Cortex supercomputing cluster and explained that the cluster will require approximately 130 megawatts of electricity this year, and is expected to exceed 500 megawatts within the next 18 months. For this reason, Tesla installed huge fans and four water tanks for cooling inside the computer center.

In June, Musk estimated that Tesla's spending on Nvidia chips this year may reach 3 billion to 4 billion US dollars, accounting for half of the company's total artificial intelligence-related spending of 10 billion US dollars, and the remaining funds will be used for the internal R & D of AI inference computers, vehicle sensors and the Dojo supercomputer.
