Google Updates Android 15 Beta2.1 with Widget Function Enhancements

In the latest system version, when users long-press the home screen to enter the 'widget selector', they will see a '+' button in the upper right corner of the widget form. Users can press the relevant button to add the widget to the home page. However, considering that there was already an 'add' button on the widget page before, the two buttons seem to have some functional conflicts. It is currently uncertain whether Google will further modify the relevant characteristics in the future.

In Android 15 Beta2.1, the 'widget selector' has also improved the preview function. Previously, when users added widgets, the widget information they saw was usually a placeholder, but now the relevant placeholder has been replaced by the user's actual information, which can provide a more accurate representation for users.

Moreover, Google has also improved the category function of the 'widget selector', providing a more organized layout. Now widgets are divided into three major categories: 'Essentials', 'Suggested for you', and 'News & magazines', allowing users to quickly select the content they want.

TapTechNews learned that the Android 15 Beta2.1 update will be automatically pushed to devices that have registered for the Beta program, including Pixel 8a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 7Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6Pro, Pixel 6Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet. In addition, Android 15 test version devices running Android 14 QPR3 or earlier versions will also receive the update later.
