WSUS, which stands for Windows Server Update Services, is a computer program developed by Microsoft to assist administrators in managing Microsoft product updates and hotfix patches, and distributing them to computers in the corporate environment.

Before announcing the deprecation, Microsoft conducted a survey and stated that only 34% of the participants indicated that they use WSUS to synchronize drivers, and among this 34% of the participants, the majority have already been switching to other solutions; only 8% of the participants expressed concerns about the potential impact of the deprecation.

A partial translation of the Microsoft press release by TapTechNews is as follows:

We plan to stop WSUS driver synchronization on April 18, 2025.

For on-premises environments, users can access the Microsoft Update Catalog page to download drivers, but they cannot import them into WSUS. Users need to use other methods (such as device driver packages) to distribute drivers within the network.
