Micron GDDR7 Graphics Memory Announcement

TapTechNews June 8th news. Micron announced earlier this month that it has begun sampling the new generation of GDDR7 graphics memory with a speed of 32 Gbps. The memory bandwidth is 1.5 TB/sec, which is 60% higher than GDDR6 and has the highest bit density in the industry.

Micron has released new slide details and more details of the GDDR7 graphics memory. Micron stated that at the three common game resolutions of 1080P, 1440P, and 4K, the graphics card equipped with GDDR7 graphics memory will increase the frames per second by more than 30% when performing ray tracing and rasterization rendering.

In the slide content, Micron stated that in the 4K Ultra resolution preset ray tracing scenario (TapTechNews note: the specific test game name is not indicated in the slide), the performance of the GDDR7 memory chip is 3.1 times that of GDDR6 and 1.5 times that of GDDR6X.

According to the slide content, under ray tracing, the GDDR7 graphics memory game frame rate is 2.3 times that of GDDR6 at 1080P Ultra preset and 3.1 times that of GDDR6 at 4K Ultra preset.

In terms of rasterization rendering, the GDDR7 graphics memory game frame rate is 1.2 times that of GDDR6 at 1080P Ultra preset and 1.7 times that of GDDR6 at 4K Ultra preset.
