IOC to Deploy AI Technology in Paris Olympics to Protect Athletes

TapTechNews June 15 - According to a report by Reuters, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach said on Friday local time that the IOC will deploy AI technology during the Paris Olympics to prevent any harassment and abuse on social media against 15,000 athletes and officials.

TapTechNews note: The Paris Olympics will kick off on July 26, and more than 10,500 athletes will compete in 32 major events. According to the IOC's estimate, more than 500 million social media interactions will occur during the 16-day event.

Bach announced that the IOC will use AI technology in different fields in Paris, including the 'protection' aspect. He said that if someone spends only 1 second reading a social media content, it might take him 16 years to finish reading. Therefore, the IOC will provide a proactive AI protection tool to ensure that athletes are protected from online infringement. This tool has extensive monitoring functions and can cover all 15,000 athletes and officials. It will automatically delete abusive posts to protect the athletes.
