According to TapTechNews, this GigaTrain travels between the Tesla Süd station and the Erkner station, and is freely open to all passengers. Although originally planned to go online in April, it was postponed to this week for some reason.

It is worth noting that this is the first fully electric battery-powered train in the Berlin and Brandenburg regions. Each carriage can accommodate 120 people, and one trip can transport 500 passengers, and it is equipped with bicycle parking spaces, ground access, and a passenger information system.

The Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn company responsible for the train operation plans to completely replace it with an electric vehicle fleet by the end of this year. Sebastian Achtmann, the managing director of the company, said: We will invest in 31 battery electric multiple-unit trains and 7 hydrogen-powered multiple-unit trains to gradually replace the existing diesel fleet.

Tesla said that the train was originally scheduled to start operating on Monday, but due to delays in other construction projects, the start time was slightly postponed. Before the relevant construction is completed, the train will only run between the Gigafactory and Erkner, and then a stop at the Berlin-Lichtenberg station will be added.
