TapTechNews noticed that since the launch of the MacStudio and the 27-inch StudioDisplay in March 2022, Apple has discontinued the Intel version of the 27-inch iMac, and also discontinued the iMacPro in March 2021. Last November, Apple even clearly stated that it has no intention to launch a 27-inch iMac, completely dashing the hopes of consumers.

Although Apple continuously adjusts its product line and tries to guide consumers to buy the 24-inch iMac or the MacStudio + StudioDisplay combination, rumors about a larger-sized iMac have been persistent. There are rumors that its screen will be more than 30 inches. As early as the middle of 2023, there were rumors that this product was in the early stage of development, but then the related rumors gradually subsided.

Now, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has brought a glimmer of hope to the many fans who are expecting a large-sized iMac. He said in the latest weekly report that Apple is still exploring a larger-sized iMac. However, Gurman also pointed out that it is not clear whether this device will be equipped with the latest M4 processor. Apple plans to upgrade the 24-inch iMac to the M4 processor later this year.

In June 2023, Gurman had reported that Apple was in the early stage of developing a new iMac with a display of more than 30 inches and said that it would take some time for this product to come out, suggesting that it might take at least a year or two to go on the market. Last October, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that a 32-inch iMac with a MiniLED display will be launched in 2025. Although Ming-Chi Kuo did not explicitly state, this product may be positioned as an iMacPro, replacing the 2017 model that Apple discontinued in 2021.

Therefore, it seems likely that Apple will launch a larger-sized iMac with the M4 processor in 2025, while also planning to upgrade the processors of the MacBookAir, MacPro, and MacStudio next year. Another possibility is that Apple will wait for the M5 chip, which may lead to a larger-sized iMac being launched in 2026 or later.

As the rumors indicate, the specific size of the larger-sized iMac that Apple is developing is still unclear, but it is certain that the screen will be more than 30 inches. If it reaches 32 inches, its size will be the same as Apple's $5000 6KProDisplayXDR. As for the design, there may be narrower bezels, imitating the StudioDisplay to cancel the chin, but currently the rumors have no clear statement about this.
