Intel's SVT-HEVC Open-Source Encoder Project Stopped Development

TapTechNews on August 23rd reported that as part of Intel's Scalable Video Technology (SVT) initiative, Intel has been developing SVT-HEVC as a BSD-licensed open-source high-performance H.265/HEVC video encoder, which is optimized for Xeon Scalable and Xeon D processors.

However, the SVT-HEVC open-source encoder project has recently officially stopped development. Since 2021, no new version of SVT-HEVC has been released. Three weeks ago, the upstream of SVT-HEVC stopped development, and the GitHub repository was archived as read-only, with the following stop notice:

Project termination

Intel will no longer maintain this project. Intel has ceased development and contribution to this project, including but not limited to maintenance, bug fixes, new versions, or updates.

Intel will no longer accept patches for this project. If you continuously need to use this project, are interested in independently developing it, or want to maintain patches for the open-source software community, please create your own project branch.
