JR Tokai Finds Axle Pressure Issues in Japan, Triggering Industry-wide Checks

TapTechNews September 15, according to the Japan News Agency, Japan's Tokai Railway Company (JR Tokai) announced on the 14th that it conducted a self-examination of the operation of embedding train axles into wheels and found that 11 axles of 10 carriages on ordinary lines were subjected to pressure exceeding the standard value stipulated by the company's internal regulations.

JR Tokai said that safety is guaranteed, but these carriages have been excluded from the train marshalling, and some express trains and the like maintain operation with a reduced number of carriages. All Shinkansen lines meet the standards. No data tampering or other violations were found during the inspection of Shinkansen and ordinary lines.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, on September 11, Japan Railway Freight Company admitted that in the operation of embedding axles into wheels, pressure超过 the standard value stipulated by the Japanese Industrial Specifications (JIS), and then there were violations such as data tampering, and all trains have been suspended from operation.

On September 12, the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism issued instructions requiring all companies in the Japanese railway industry to urgently check the operation records of parts and components, etc., and report the situation within the month.
