TapTechNews learned from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission that these electric ovens involved about 250 fires, and at least 18 of these fires caused significant property damage. Approximately 40 people were injured, among which 8 people needed medical treatment, and there were also 7 reports of pet deaths due to fires.

This voluntary recall is due to a problem with the front knob on Samsung's built-in electric oven. These defective knobs may be accidentally triggered by humans or pets and start up, especially when items are placed on the oven, increasing the risk of fire.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said that these knobs can be easily accidentally triggered, heating the electric oven and increasing the risk of fire. Since 2013, Samsung has received more than 300 reports of accidental startups.

Samsung has recently introduced a simple solution that can prevent this safety hazard from occurring in households across the United States. Samsung said that customers worried about accidental startups can freely apply for a knob lock and cover, which can significantly reduce the possibility of accidentally starting the electric oven.

In addition, customers with Wi-Fi-enabled electric ovens can enable the notification function in their Samsung SmartThings application to receive alerts when it is started.
