Min Giseok (transliteration), head of the regional accident reconstruction headquarters of the Ministry of Employment and Labor of South Korea, announced at the Hwaseong fire briefing the relevant actions taken by the labor department in response to the Arisel factory fire. As reported by TapTechNews earlier, a large fire occurred in the lithium battery factory of battery manufacturer ARICELL located in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do on the 24th. The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the police have informed our embassy of the casualties of Chinese citizens. According to the latest notification from the South Korean side, the number of Chinese citizens who died in the incident is 19, and the staff of our embassy has rushed to the Hwaseong site in the first instance to further verify the situation.

At 10:31 local time, a fire broke out in the third building of the factory of ARICELL located in Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi-do, where there were 35,000 finished lithium battery products, and many batteries exploded, bringing great difficulties to the fire fighting work.

Considering that lithium is a harmful chemical substance and the scale of casualties and the possibility of the fire spreading further, the fire department issued a level 2 response (ordering 3 to 7 fire stations to mobilize 31 to 50 equipment), and dispatched 145 firefighters and 50 pieces of equipment to carry out the fire fighting work. Around 15:10, after the fire was controlled, firefighters began to enter the building to search and rescue.
