iFixit Releases USB-C Portable Soldering System FixHub with Multiple Features
TapTechNews September 12th, iFixit today released a USB-C portable soldering system FixHub, which includes a soldering iron and a power bank, claiming to enable all types of users to handle soldering work anytime and anywhere.
The power bank that provides power and instructions for this soldering system has a battery capacity of 55 watt-hours and can support continuous soldering for more than 8 hours with a single charge. This power bank can provide up to 100 watts of power to a pair of USB-C ports, capable of running two soldering irons simultaneously. At the same time, this product can also power or charge devices such as smartphones.
The power bank includes a display that shows the status of the soldering iron, and a knob that can adjust the output power, with a maximum support of 400 degrees Fahrenheit temperature. The USB-C port at the rear of the power station allows up to 45 watts of input power to charge the power station. The official claims that continuous connection to the power supply is safe and users can use it at any time.
The soldering iron part adopts an ergonomic design and has a short beveled 1.5 soldering tip. It also provides other规格 soldering tips (TapTechNews note: sold separately), including conical, wedge 1.5, pointed, bevel 2.6, knife 2.5 and knife 1.4, and more soldering tips may be added in the future according to demand. After turning on the power, the soldering iron can start soldering within five seconds.
FixHub also has a configurable auto-sleep mode, a soldering iron heat-resistant protective cap that is magnetically attached, and a gyroscope-driven drop detection feature. If the soldering iron drops or bumps off the table, it will automatically shut off.
In addition, the set temperature of the soldering iron can be adjusted by accessing the soldering iron's settings software through a browser (Chrome, Edge, or Brave) after plugging the tool into the USB-C port of the computer.
iFixit also released an optional portable soldering toolkit that includes a flat-head cutter, a wire stripper, a crowbar, a work mat, safety goggles, etc.
The portable soldering station including the soldering iron and the battery pack costs $249.95 (currently about 1781 yuan), while the full toolkit including the soldering iron, the battery pack, pliers and other tools costs $299.95 (currently about 2137 yuan).
