Regarding the concern from the outside world whether the listing time of Leopard 8 will be postponed from the original planned third quarter to the fourth quarter or even the end of the year, the enterprise responded that a new car will be released soon. Sources revealed that Leopard 8 will most likely be listed in September according to the previous plan.
As for whether it will be equipped with Huawei's newly released Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 3.0, sources said it is not convenient to disclose now.
It is reported that considering that Leopard 8 is a large SUV in the 500,000-yuan ($70,000) price range, judging from the market competition relationship, only when this car is equipped with Huawei's Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 3.0 system can it be considered a plus. If the previous-generation intelligent driving system of Huawei is equipped on a vehicle of this level, it will be difficult to impress users.
TapTechNews learned from the official that Leopard 8 is based on BYD's DMO super hybrid off-road platform and will provide the Yunyan-P active hydraulic body control system. The new car has a length, width and height of 5195/1994/1875 (1905) mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2920 mm.
In terms of power, the new car is equipped with an off-road dedicated hybrid architecture and adopts a DM-o hybrid system, including a 2.0T engine with a maximum power of 200 kW (272 hp) and a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a peak power of 200 kW in the front and 300 kW in the rear, and is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery.
