iPhone and iPad users can add custom words to Siri through Vocal Shortcuts to start shortcuts and complete complex tasks.
After the iPhone upgrades to iOS 18 Beta1 and the iPad upgrades to iPadOS 18 Beta1, the steps to enable Vocal Shortcuts are very simple:
Open the Settings app
Open Accessibility and enter Vocal Shortcuts
Click on Set Vocal Shortcuts
After enabling this function, you can create the first Vocal Shortcuts through the following operations:
Select the operation to be performed
Define a custom trigger phrase
Repeat this sentence loudly three times
As confirmed by the function description in the settings, all the processing of Vocal Shortcuts runs completely locally on the device. After the user configures the Vocal Shortcuts, even if the iPhone and iPad are in the locked screen state, the user only needs to shout out the specific trigger phrase to perform the specified operation.
The special thing about Vocal Shortcuts is that it doesn't need to call Siri first, just say the preset words you have and it will trigger the corresponding operation.
