TapTechNews noted that during his tenure at Apple, Alves participated in the R & D of several important hardware projects, including the charging system of the first-generation Apple Watch, and his name also appeared on the patents related to the cancelled Apple car project.

Alves posted on LinkedIn to announce his departure and detailed his 11-year Apple career. In 2013, I joined Apple with great enthusiasm, the post read. At that time, I didn't know what project I would be working on, but I was looking forward to the fast-paced work, and my expectations were fulfilled! Eighteen months after joining the company, I participated in the development of the first-generation Apple Watch and led the development of the charging system. That period was filled with whiteboard discussions, emails, and meetings, which taught me a lot of valuable experiences and also took me on several business trips to China. I really cherish that time working at Apple and the people I met there!

In Rivian, Alves will work with his two former colleagues at Apple, Jonas Reinke and DJ Novotney, who also both left Apple earlier this year and joined Rivian.

It is worth noting that in May this year, there were reports that Apple may be in talks with Rivian to restart the cancelled Apple car project, which was reportedly completely shelved in February this year.
