Alibaba's 2024 Global Math Competition Update
TapTechNews reported on June 18 that on June 13, the finalist list of the 2024 Alibaba Global Math Competition was announced. Jiang Ping from Lianshui Secondary Vocational School in Jiangsu Province ranked 12th globally with a high score of 93 points. As a result, she quickly gained attention on the internet.
In response, there were rumors that the Dharma Academy team re-gave questions to Jiang Ping after she got a high score and asked her to answer on the blackboard, and the results were announced several days later. In response, the Alibaba Dharma Academy team responded to Red Star News today, stating that the online rumor is not true and did not require Jiang Ping to answer questions again.
The official Weibo of the Dharma Academy shows that the 2024 Alibaba Global Math Competition was opened to AI for the first time, and none of the AI teams reached the finalist cut-off score. The highest score of the AI Challenge was 34 points.
It is worth noting that the final will be held from 0:00 to 24:00 Beijing time on June 22. Contestants can choose any consecutive 8-hour period to answer during the competition cycle.
The top three AI teams in the final score ranking will receive bonuses of $10,000 (TapTechNews note: currently about 72,654 Chinese yuan), $5,000 (currently about 36,327 Chinese yuan), and $2,000 (currently about 14,531 Chinese yuan), respectively.
The official website of the Dharma Academy shows that in this competition, the preliminaries are open-book exams, allowing access to and reference of online and offline materials, and allowing the use of programming software to answer questions; the final is divided into 5 tracks, namely algebra and number theory, geometry and topology, analysis and equations, combination and probability, and application and computational mathematics. Contestants need to choose a track before entering the answering interface, and once the track is determined, it cannot be changed. The final is a closed-book exam and is not allowed to refer to any materials or use scientific computing software.
