TapTechNews noticed that these applications, named CollectCards, were released by different developers, but were essentially almost the same. Their interfaces were simple, and the descriptions and screenshots seemed to have nothing to do with streaming media. However, once the application was opened, users could see a huge catalog of pirated video content from platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max and even Apple TV+.

Previously, 9to5Mac had exposed that these applications deceived Apple's review system through geofencing technology. The application would detect the user's location and if it was within the United States, it would display a simple interface of pictures and videos to get through; while in other regions, it would show the real pirated streaming media function.

Although after media exposure, Apple took down the application, but obviously the company has not done enough to prevent such incidents from happening again.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time the Apple AppStore has encountered such a problem. As early as 2017, there were reports that Uber used geofencing technology to bypass Apple's review.

Currently, Apple has not responded to this matter and has not taken down these pirated applications.
