The reason for the recall is: Due to the electric seat sliding knob getting stuck, the front electric seat motor may overheat, which may lead to a fire when parked or during driving. This safety issue was first discovered in 2022.

NHTSA suggests that car owners park their cars outdoors and away from buildings until the recall repair is completed. Dealers will install brackets on the back cover of the electric seat switch for free and replace the seat sliding knob.

It is worth noting that this is not the first recall of this model in the US market this year.

On March 3rd, 2024, Kia Motors America recalled some 2020 Telluride vehicles, totaling 35,031 units. The reason for the recall is: The high beams may malfunction, thereby reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash. If necessary, dealers will freely inspect, repair or replace the high beam headlamp.

On March 26th, 2024, Kia Motors recalled approximately 427,000 Telluride vehicles in the US, because the intermediate shaft and right front drive shaft of these vehicles may not be fully engaged, which may cause the vehicle to roll when it is stopped, increasing the potential risk of a crash and posing a serious threat to the life and safety of the car owner and passengers. The models affected by this recall are 2020 to 2024 Telluride large crossover vehicles.
