Google to Take Proactive Steps to Clean Up False Content in Search Engine Amid AI-Driven Deepfakes Issue

TapTechNews August 1st news, Google announced in a blog post yesterday (July 31st) that it will take a more proactive approach to cleaning up false content in its search engine.

Google stated that with the popularity of AI technology, there are more and more AI-generated images and videos, which have also given rise to deepfakes types of bad content, bringing serious negative impacts.

TapTechNews reported in January this year that the world's top star, Ms. Taylor Swift, became a victim of deepfake, and a large number of false indecent photos flooded social platforms such as X and Facebook, and the view count has reached tens of millions.

Google is introducing new online safety features that can more easily remove obvious deepfake content on a large scale from searches and prevent this content from appearing in the top positions of search results in the first place.

After a user successfully requests to remove relevant deepfakes content from the search, Google's system will actively filter relevant search results and clean up all duplicate image content.

Google has also updated its ranking system. If a user specifically searches for deepfakes content with someone's name, the search results will show high-quality, non-explicit content, such as relevant news reports.

Google said that the previous update has reduced the exposure rate of explicit deepfakes image results by more than 70% in queries specifically searching for such deepfakes content.
