Apple Releases New Passwords App with Passkey Upgrade Option

According to TapTechNews on June 11, Apple today released a new version of the password management application Passwords for iOS/iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. Among them, one option allows existing website and application login methods to be automatically upgraded to Passkeys.

TapTechNews note: In order to accelerate the popularization of Passkeys, Apple has currently defaulted to enabling this option. Passkeys do not use the traditional password login method, but use FaceID/TouchID. It is not only more secure and can prevent online attacks such as phishing, but also more portable.

Apple began to vigorously promote and popularize Passkeys in 2022. For users, many companies and services including Twitter, Google, WhatsApp, TikTok, PayPal, Best Buy, Microsoft, PlayStation, and eBay have all supported Passkeys.
