The EX30 is Volvo's most affordable electric vehicle that started production at the end of last year and has achieved remarkable results after its launch. Volvo Cars' Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Björn Annwall said that the EX30 sold 14,500 units in the first quarter and quickly became one of the best-selling pure electric vehicles in Europe. By May, sales have exceeded 35,000 units. According to DataForce's research, the EX30 is the third best-selling electric vehicle in Europe after the Tesla Model Y and Model 3.

However, despite a strong start, Volvo still announced the recall of all EX30 models on Monday. The reason for this recall is a software problem that will cause the vehicle's speedometer to enter the test mode when starting.

Good news is that this problem can be fixed via OTA. Volvo said that car owners can choose to accept the upgrade pushed by the vehicle or take the car to the dealer for free installation of the upgrade.

TapTechNews noted that this is not the first time that software has affected the development momentum of the EX30. The larger-sized electric vehicle EX90 previously released by Volvo also suffered production delays due to software problems. The original plan was that the EX90 would start production in South Carolina, USA by the end of 2023, but it was only officially off the line last week.

Volvo is committed to achieving a fully electric goal by 2030, and the company's pure electric vehicle sales accounted for 25% of total sales in May.
