Dongfeng Motor's Rumored Factory in Italy Preliminary Contact Only

TapTechNews August 14th news, according to a report by China Business News this afternoon, in response to the rumor of building a factory in Italy, the Dongfeng Motor Group said that currently, Dongfeng Motor and the Italian government are only in preliminary contact and no substantive contact has been carried out yet.

Recent market news shows that as a condition to support Dongfeng in building a new factory locally, the Italian government requires Dongfeng Motor to agree to take measures in terms of network security and data protection; in addition, Italy requires that 45% of the components of each car produced by Dongfeng come from Italy.

It is reported that during the negotiation of factory-building conditions, such as network security, data protection, 45% local production of components and other contents, Dongfeng Motor has not discussed relevant topics yet.

Earlier this month, Reuters quoted informed sources from the Italian side as saying that the negotiation between the Italian government and China's Dongfeng Motor Group on building a factory in Italy has entered the final stage.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, the Italian government considered taking over the discontinued car brands Innocenti and Autobianchi owned by Stellantis by decree in July this year and transferring these brands to Chinese auto companies to encourage them to build factories in Italy.
