This expansion is part of Tesla's plan to double the capacity of Tesla's Berlin Gigafactory, with the goal of producing up to 1 million cars per year and increasing battery production to 100 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year.

With the approval of Tesla's expansion project, Tesla can take the lead in building a logistics area for parking new cars and laying the necessary underground cables. Tesla will build a multifunctional tent camp for this purpose and use it as the coordination center of the expansion project.

In addition, Tesla will also build a stairwell, visitor and truck passage on the north side of the die-casting workshop. Tesla has also submitted an application to install a photovoltaic system on the roof of each operating unit building and has been approved.
