Apple's Future Move Changing Materials for Apple Watch SE

TapTechNews July 7th report, in addition to developing the new generation of Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, Apple also plans to make major changes to its most affordable Apple Watch SE: using plastic material to build the case.

TapTechNews noticed that currently, the Apple Watch SE, like other high-end Apple Watches, uses an aluminum case. When Apple last updated the Apple Watch SE in 2022, it redesigned the back case and changed the back material from ceramic to a new nylon composite material.

Mark Gurman, a journalist from Bloomberg, revealed in his latest issue of the PowerOn newsletter that the next-generation Apple Watch SE may abandon the aluminum case and switch to hard plastic.

Although the report does not disclose more details, it is obvious that the obvious benefit of making this change is to cut costs. If the case material of the Apple Watch SE is changed from aluminum to plastic, in theory, its price can be reduced, and currently the starting price of the Apple Watch SE is $299 (about 1999 yuan).
