≪Story Outline≫

————Holy Grail War————

This is a ritual held by magicians in Fuyuki, hoping to reach the root.

In order to pursue the Holy Grail that can fulfill all wishes, seven magicians known as Masters gather in Fuyuki City.

The Masters respond to the summons of the Holy Grail and summon the heroic spirit known as the Servant, competing for the final victory in the fierce battles.

So far, the Holy Grail War has been held four times, but still no winner has lifted the Holy Grail.

In the fourth Holy Grail War ten years ago, Shirou Emiya lost both parents due to the battle and was rescued and adopted by the magician who claimed to be Emiya Kiritsugu.

Shirou once hoped to learn magic-related knowledge from Kiritsugu, but was opposed by Kiritsugu. Even so, Shirou accompanied Kiritsugu through the last moments of his life. On the night when Kiritsugu left the world peacefully, Shirou was determined to become a partner of justice.

Time flies,

Nowadays, Shirou was originally living a peaceful life, but was attacked by a Servant one night and was once again involved in the Holy Grail War.

Fortunately, the oncoming attack was blocked by the suddenly appearing young knight.

The Servant who saved the boy who was determined to become a partner of justice, and the Master who was saved by the heroic spirit of the sword.

The intertwined gears of fate will start to turn from this night -

Fate/stay night (TapTechNews note: some translations are Fate/Guardian of the Night, Fate/Night of Destiny) is the first work released after TYPE-MOON changed from a doujinshi society to a commercial company, and was released on January 30th, 2004, landing on PC, PS2, PS Vita and smart phone platforms.

This game tells the process of the fifth Holy Grail War and the bond between Shirou Emiya and Saber (Artoria Pendragon), and has a common worldview with the works such as Tsukihime and Kara no Kyoukai previously released by TYPE-MOON.

There are a total of 3攻略 routes in this work, namely Fate (Destiny), Unlimited Blade Works (Unlimited Sword Production), and Heaven's Feel (Cup of Heaven), corresponding to the three heroines Saber, Tohsaka Rin, and Matou Sakura. The three-storylines are unlocked and unfolded in order.

In addition, TYPE-MOON launched a FANDISC Fate/hollow ataraxia for this work on October 28th, 2005, and there are also derivative works such as animations and comics, and later also launched a prequel novel and animation Fate/Zero.
