US Launches Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Investigations Against Low-Speed Vehicles From China

TapTechNews July 12th, according to the China Trade Remedy Information Network, in response to the application submitted by the American Personal Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Coalition on June 20, 2024, the US Department of Commerce announced on the 11th to initiate anti-dumping and countervailing investigations against imported low-speed personal transportation vehicles (Low-Speed Personal Transportation Vehicles) from China.

In this case, it involves products under the US customs code 8703.10.5030. The US International Trade Commission (ITC) is expected to make the preliminary ruling on industrial damage at the latest by August 5, 2024. If the ITC rules that the import of the products involved has caused substantial damage or a threat of substantial damage to the domestic industry in the US, the US Department of Commerce will continue to investigate this case and is expected to make the preliminary ruling on countervailing on September 13, 2024, and the preliminary ruling on anti-dumping on November 27, 2024.

According to US statistics, the amount of the investigated products imported by the US from China in 2023 is about 440 million US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 3.198 billion Chinese yuan).
