COMAC and Tongji University Establish Large Aircraft Research Institute
TapTechNews May 29th news, on May 28th, the inauguration ceremony of the COMAC-Tongji University Large Aircraft Research Institute and the signing ceremony of the co-construction cooperation agreement were held in Shanghai, marking a new stage of cooperation between the two parties.
According to the introduction, the two parties will carry out joint scientific research and tackle key problems facing the strategic needs of building a civil aviation power and the scientific and technological innovation needs of large aircraft, customize the cultivation of high-end and urgently-needed talents in civil aviation, and strive to enhance the independent innovation ability of domestic commercial aircraft.
He Dongfeng, the secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the COMAC, said that it is of particular significance that the COMAC signs the co-construction agreement with Tongji University to establish the Large Aircraft Research Institute on the occasion of the first anniversary of the commercial operation of the domestic large aircraft C919. He hopes that the two parties will take the establishment of the Large Aircraft Research Institute as an opportunity to further expand the field of cooperation and strengthen organized innovation on the basis of the existing cooperation achievements. They should not only focus on solving current problems but also look to the long-term development in the future and explore new paths and models of university-enterprise cooperation to promote the implementation of more cooperation projects.
The COMAC-Tongji University Large Aircraft Research Institute will rely on the scientific and technological advantages of both the university and the enterprise, strengthen the in-depth integration of industry, education and research, focus on the technical research and development of domestic commercial aircraft and the exploration of future new technologies, establish special joint research teams, and promote scientific research cooperation in multiple directions through the establishment of joint laboratories and the implementation of cooperation projects. It will also deepen the integration of industry and education, and jointly cultivate outstanding engineering talents and high-level professional talents urgently needed in the industry, providing strong support for the development of China's large aircraft industry.
TapTechNews found out that in November 2021, Tongji University signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the COMAC to strengthen systematic planning and accurate implementation in the construction of an innovative university-enterprise joint research platform, the transformation of functional technical achievements, the co-construction of a design innovation joint laboratory, personalized talent cultivation, and interactive team cultivation. Now the cooperation has been upgraded again.
