Global Semiconductor Industry Sales Show Strong Growth in May

TapTechNews July 6th news, data from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) shows that in May, the global semiconductor industry's sales reached 49.1 billion US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 357.554 billion yuan), an increase of 19.3% year-on-year and 4.1% month-on-month, which is also the largest year-on-year increase since April 2022.

The SIA pointed out that the global semiconductor industry's sales every month this year have increased compared to the same period last year. The semiconductor sales in the Americas increased by 43.6% year-on-year in May and increased month-on-month; China followed, with a year-on-year increase of 24.2% and a month-on-month increase of 5%.

The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics Organization (WSTS) estimates that the global semiconductor sales in 2024 are expected to reach 611.2 billion US dollars (currently about 4.45 trillion yuan), an increase of 16% year-on-year, among which the sales of memory semiconductors with the most growth will increase by 76.8%.
