OPPO's Decision on Triple-Fold Phones and Focus on Core Business

TapTechNews September 26th news, at today's OPPO flagship store communication meeting, Liu Bo, the president of OPPO China region, said regarding the topic of triple-foldable phones that OPPO has had this pre-research plan for a long time, but temporarily will not make this product, which is OPPO's own choice.

He said, 'There is still no perceived demand from consumers for now, and will not launch triple-fold products for the time being as the demand is not that strong.'

Regarding the topic related to automobiles, Liu Bo said that OPPO's core strategy is to do well in mobile phones and core peripherals. Focus is very important. OPPO's current category still has room for improvement in products and scale. It is clearly stated that it will not build cars, but will cooperate with car companies to do well in the interconnection between mobile phones and cars.

TapTechNews found that many manufacturers have registered triple-fold phone design patents, but none have been mass-produced, and the Huawei Mate XT Extraordinary Master is the world's first and currently the only mass-produced triple-fold phone.

In addition, OPPO also showcased the OPPO X2021 scroll screen concept phone in 2020, which also has not been mass-produced. This phone adopts a无级 OLED flexible scroll screen with a minimum of 6.7 inches and a maximum of 7.4 inches. Through OPPO's self-developed RollMotor power assembly, double-matrix embedded clutch structure, and screen dynamic area framework laminate, it achieves a screen effect that is almost 'zero crease' and can freely stretch and retract like a painting scroll.
