Volvo Cars' May 2024 Sales Increase, Dominated by EX30 and EVs

TapTechNews, Jun 5th, Volvo Cars announced that its sales in May 2024 increased to 68,034 units, a 13% year-on-year increase, mainly due to a 27% increase in sales in Europe and the strong performance of the pure electric EX30 model.

In a statement, Volvo Cars said the sales of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles increased by 37% and accounted for 48% of the group's global sales.

However, the brand's sales in the United States and China decreased by 5% and 1% respectively.

Volvo Cars aims to make electric vehicles account for half of its sales by 2025 and hopes to sell only electric vehicles by 2030.

According to a previous report by TapTechNews, the domestic Volvo EX30 small pure electric SUV was launched in May this year, with a starting price of $29,900 (about 200,800 yuan), and offers single-motor and dual-motor versions. The maximum power of the single-motor version is 200 kW, and the combined maximum power of the dual-motor version can reach 315 kW, with a zero to 100 acceleration of 3.6 seconds.

The model will be equipped with battery packs with two capacities of 49 kWh and 66 kWh, and the pure electric range will offer three optional versions of 255 miles, 336 miles and 367 miles.
