Apple Introduces 'Battery Health Status' Menu on New iPads

TapTechNews May 15th news, the new iPad Air and iPad Pro from Apple are different from previous iPad models, with a new 'Battery Health Status' menu added to the Settings app, an option that was once exclusive to the iPhone 15 series.

According to iCulture, accessing 'Settings' ➝ 'Battery' on the new iPad will display a new 'Battery Health Status' menu, which lists the battery health status (with readings such as 'Normal'), maximum capacity, cycle count, and the option to optimize charging to 80%. Users can also view detailed information on battery production time and first use time.

TapTechNews reported in April that in the iPadOS 17.5 Beta code released by Apple to developers this week, there are multiple mentions of a new 'Battery Health' menu for iPads, introducing two new parameters: maximum remaining capacity and cycle count.

The 80% limit is separate from the optimized charging feature on early iPhones, which intelligently delays charging beyond 80% to a more suitable time by learning the device's daily charging routine.

With the 80% hard limit enabled, the charging time for the iPad will not exceed this percentage. Apple states that reducing the time the battery is fully charged can reduce battery wear and extend the battery's lifespan.
