Tencent Participates in MoonshotAI's $300 Million Financing, Alibaba's Investment and MoonshotAI's Profile

TapTechNews noticed that as early as February this year, there were reports that MoonshotAI had completed a new round of over $1 billion (currently about 7.171 billion yuan) financing, and the investors included Sequoia China, Xiaohongshu, Meituan, and Ali, and the old shareholders followed the investment. After this round of financing, the valuation of MoonshotAI has reached about $2.5 billion (currently about 17.926 billion yuan), and it is one of the leading enterprises in the domestic large model field.
In the Alibaba financial report disclosed in May this year, the company invested a total of about $800 million (currently about 5.736 billion yuan) in the artificial intelligence start-up company MoonshotAI in fiscal year 2024, purchasing about 36% of the equity, which is a preferred stock investment in MoonshotAI.

The official website of MoonshotAI shows that the company was founded in March 2023 and is committed to seeking the optimal solution for converting energy into intelligence, creating intelligence through products and users. In October 2023, it launched the world's first intelligent assistant product Kimi that supports input of 200,000 Chinese characters. The core members of the founding team participated in the R & D of multiple large models such as GoogleGemini, GoogleBard, Pangu NLP, and Enlightenment, and many core technologies were adopted by mainstream products such as GooglePaLM, MetaLLaMa, and StableDiffusion.
