Stellantis CEO visits Lixiang Automotive, joint venture company to be established

TapTechNews May 13th news, blogger 'Electric Plus Electric' reported that Carlos Tavares, the global CEO of European automotive giant Stellantis, visited the headquarters of Lixiang Automotive tonight, and concluded that the joint venture company is estimated to be formally established, named Lixiang International.

Earlier this month, there were reports that Zhu Jiangming, Chairman and CEO of Lixiang Automotive, and Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, would jointly attend a press conference this week to announce the establishment of the joint venture company 'Lixiang International'.

On October 26th last year, Lixiang Automotive announced that Stellantis planned to invest approximately 1.5 billion euros (approximately 11.655 billion RMB at the current exchange rate) to acquire approximately 20% of Lixiang Automotive's equity, and the two parties planned to establish a joint venture company named 'Lixiang International' (Leapmotor International). Except for the Greater China region, the joint venture company has the exclusive rights to export and sell products to all other markets globally, as well as the exclusive rights to manufacture Lixiang automotive products locally.

According to the plan, Lixiang will enter overseas markets through exports this year. Stellantis officials have stated that the goal of Lixiang International is to sell 500,000 vehicles outside the Chinese market by 2030.
