Canonical's 2023 Financial Report Revenue Growth and New Ubuntu Version

TapTechNews July 31st news, the Ubuntu system developer, Canonical (Canonical Group Limited), submitted its financial statements to the UK Companies House, and its 2023 revenue reached 251 million US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 1.819 billion Chinese yuan) with a year-on-year increase of 22%.

Its gross profit margin slightly decreased from 82% in 2022 to 80% in 2023; the net profit was 12.5 million US dollars (currently about 90.598 million Chinese yuan), a significant increase of 220% compared to the 3.9 million US dollars in the previous year.

In 2023, the average number of employees of Canonical was 1,034 people, while it was 858 people in the previous year.

The long-term support version (LTS) of Ubuntu 24.04, Noble Numbat, has been released on April 25th. This version adopts the Linux 6.8 kernel, and the default desktop environment uses GNOME 46, while also adding new features such as native support for Raspberry Pi 5.
