Bandai Namco Reports Record Revenue for Fiscal Year 2023

TapTechNews reported on May 12 that Bandai Namco recently announced its revenue for the fiscal year 2023: achieving the highest ever sales and revenue, but with a decrease in operating profit.

According to the financial report conference call, Bandai Namco's operating profit decreased by 22.1% overall year-on-year. This means that while the company made more money overall, the profit margin is much thinner compared to the previous fiscal year.

Bandai Namco achieved revenue of 1.0502 trillion Japanese yen (approximately 4.873 billion Chinese yuan), a year-on-year increase of 6.1%. Operating profit was 90.682 billion Japanese yen (approximately 4.208 billion Chinese yuan), ordinary profit was 10.464 billion Japanese yen (approximately 0.486 billion Chinese yuan), and the final profit for fiscal year 2023 as announced by the company was 101.493 billion Japanese yen (approximately 4.709 billion Chinese yuan).

The company announced that the main game business will aim for medium to long-term growth and plans to establish a balanced resource allocation, project investment, and product lineup combination. It also plans to release multiple new game titles, with future game works focusing more on quality.

Specifically in the game business, classic IPs such as Dragon Ball and One Piece performed steadily but new titles had poor results; console games like Armored Core 6: Domain of Heavenfire and Tekken 8 received positive feedback from players, but did not contribute as much as Elden Ring.

In addition, Bandai Namco announced this month that Gundam Breaker 4 will be launched on August 29 for Nintendo Switch, PS5|4, and PC platforms. The game supports simplified and traditional Chinese, as well as Chinese voiceover.
