Apple to Release iOS18 with Delayed Features

TapTechNews, June 18th. Apple will release the official version update of iOS18 system in September. Although it brings many new features, not all features will be available at the initial release. According to the information on Apple's official website, here are some features that will be delayed to the subsequent versions of iOS18 (iOS18.1 in October and iOS18.2 in December), and even some features need to wait until next year to go online.

Mail Intelligent Classification

The subsequent updates of iOS18 will add a device-intelligently driven mail classification feature to the mail app, which will divide the mails in the user's mailbox into four categories:

Primary Mails: Personal important mails and time-sensitive mails.

Transaction Records: Bills and confirmation mails.

Updates: Notification mails from news and social media.

Promotional Messages: Marketing mails and coupons.

This feature will initially only support English device use, and users can still choose to view the entire mail list. In addition, the mail app will also support a new summary view, which can easily view all mails from the same merchant. For example, mails such as flight information from the same airline will be grouped together.

Some AppleIntelligence Features Postponed

Although some AppleIntelligence features will offer a preview version in the iOS18 released in September, it is only limited to American English users and only supports iPhone15Pro and subsequent models. Apple said that'some features, more languages and platform support will be gradually launched next year', but did not give specific details. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman revealed in his PowerOn newsletter that some Siri functions that rely on AppleIntelligence, such as recognizing personal context, screen content awareness, and more in-depth application control functions, are expected to be launched only in 2025. In addition, the AppleIntelligence feature will also support more languages and regions next year. However, Gurman pointed out that the iOS18 initial release version will bring a new interface design of Siri and more natural voice, as well as some functions driven by AppleIntelligence, such as improving writing, optimizing notifications, summarizing information, generating custom emoji, and so on.

Control the Sweeping Robot with Siri

Controlling the sweeping robot is one of the functions that will be added in the subsequent updates of iOS18. Users can then use Siri voice commands to let the sweeping robot perform cleaning and other operations. Apple said that HomeKit will support the 'core functions' of the sweeping robot, such as sweeping, mopping, controlling power, c leaning mode, and viewing the power status. The sweeping robot will also support smart home automation and scene functions.

Viewing Home Electricity Consumption (Only for Some Areas in the US)

Another HomeKit function that will be launched in the subsequent updates of iOS18 is viewing home electricity consumption. However, this function is only limited to the residential users of Pacific Gas and Electric Company in the US, and the user needs to be the account owner or authorized user to use it.
