watchOS11 Brings Ringtone Customization to Apple Watch Users

On June 18, TapTechNews reported that the watchOS 11 system has brought a众多 new features to Apple Watch users, including health tracking, fitness enhancements, live activities, translation apps, and new watch faces. However, in addition to these features mentioned at the WWDC 2024 conference, watchOS 11 also hides another practical feature - finally allowing users to change the default ringtone.

TapTechNews noticed that since the launch of Apple Watch, users have been only able to use the fixed default ringtone to answer calls from the iPhone. Although the cellular version of the Apple Watch Series 3 has additional ringtones, users still cannot make any custom choices.

Fortunately, watchOS 11 will break this limitation. The developer beta version has added a ringtone setting option, providing up to eight different ringtones for users to choose from, including the ringtones used by the previous GPS and cellular versions. The specific options include:

Pebbles (original ringtone of the cellular version)

Focus

Jingle (ringtone of the first-generation Apple Watch)

Nighthawk

Transmit

Twirl

Windup

Wonder

In addition to the ringtone, watchOS 11 also allows users to customize the alert tones for text messages, emails, calendar reminders, memos, and regular notifications. The available options include:

Resonate

Brilliant

Cheer

Flutter

Globe

Moment

Scoop

Timekeeper

Tinker

Unfortunately, watchOS 11 does not currently support setting a dedicated ringtone for a single contact, nor can it download ringtones from the iTunes Store. However, being able to customize the ringtone is undoubtedly a praiseworthy improvement for Apple Watch users.

watchOS 11 will be open to all users this fall. The developer beta version has been launched, and the public beta version will also go live next month. watchOS 11 is compatible with Apple Watch Series 6 and subsequent models.
