At present, China has successfully developed a comprehensive solution integrating AVS3-P2 video, AVS3-P3 audio and AVS-SMT intelligent media transmission and other cutting-edge technologies, and during the Paris Olympics, in cooperation with China Central Television, a historical live broadcast verification pilot was carried out.

According to the introduction, this pilot not only marks the first successful application of AVS3 ultra-high definition audio and video standard in Internet TV live broadcast through DVB-I technology, but also an attempt from traditional TV broadcasting to IP-based, Internet-based interactive live broadcast transformation.

In the verification process, by setting up 2 4K experimental channels and 3 high-definition experimental channels, covering six types of terminals such as TV, set-top box, Mini terminal, mobile phone, tablet computer, and PC, at the same time, it also further verified the feasibility of technologies such as multi-terminal large and small screen video synchronization, multi-perspective synchronous interaction, interactive broadcast transmission and audio and video heterogeneous synchronous transmission, setting a new milestone for the development of ultra-high definition live broadcast technology.

The official of the New Generation Artificial Intelligence Alliance commented that this domestic live broadcast verification pilot has for the first time realized the live broadcast transmission of AVS3 ultra-high definition audio and video technology standard through the next generation of Internet TV technology, making a useful exploration for the upgrade of traditional TV broadcasting technology to IP-based Internet interactive live broadcast, and strongly promoting the overseas expansion and global deployment of domestic technology standards.

TapTechNews noticed that since the AVS independent intellectual property rights standard was successfully applied to China's high-definition application in the broadcasting and television industry in 2012, the AVS series of technologies have been fully rolled out in the broadcasting and television application. In 2016, AVS2 was applied to the 4K ultra-high definition application in the broadcasting and television industry, and in 2021, the AVS third-generation standard AVS3 began to be applied for the f irst time in the ultra-high definition 8K application broadcast on the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Then from the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and the Qatar World Cup, to the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, to the 2024 European Cup, and then to this Paris Olympics, the application of the AVS full series of standards has been continuously upgraded.

In addition to the broadcasting and television application, in the application of network audio-visual new media, since 2022, China Mobile Migu Company has applied the AVS3 video and audio standards to the live broadcast of domestic and international major sports events and opened up the AVS3 zone for application promotion.

In this Olympic Games, China Mobile Migu Company upgraded the AVS3 domestic technology again. While creating the AVS3 Spectacular Vision on-demand zone and the AVS3 Spectacular Vision live perspective zone, it also added the AVS3 Multiple Live Broadcasts zone, and the live concurrent performance was improved by 50%, supporting the ultra-high definition signal concurrent real-time encoding of large-scale events in the Olympic Games through a series of innovative technology applications.

In addition to the AVS3-P2 video and the system packaging AVS3-P7 standard, the AVS3-P3 audio and its system packaging AVS3-P7 standard, the AVS-SMT intelligent media transmission standard has also begun to enter the pilot stage in China.

AVS3 is the world's first implemented audio and video source coding standard for 8K and 5G industry applications. It was adopted as the core specification of the International Digital Video Broadcasting Organization (DVB) in 2022 and was released as an ETSI specification in 2023. In this Paris Olympics, the AVS ultra-high definition video/audio/system full series of standards support the sports event broadcasting/live broadcast of the Paris Olympic Games, making positive contributions to the in-depth development of domestic independent standard industry applications, the upgrade of IP-based interactive network audio-visual industry, and the international cooperation and global deployment of domestic independent standards.
