Huawei Patents New Vehicle Control Method for Autonomous Driving

TapTechNews June 19th news, according to the official website of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. publicly announced a new patent for Vehicle control method and device on June 14th. The inventors are Tian Kaidong, Wang Yongyong and Chai Tong.

Huawei Patents New Vehicle Control Method for Autonomous Driving_0

This patent was filed on December 12, 2022. Focusing on the field of autonomous driving technology, it proposes a vehicle control method and device, which can flexibly set the autonomous driving strategy according to the driver's status information to improve the user's autonomous driving experience. The specific method includes obtaining the driver's status information, determining the driver's offline level (representing the degree of distraction), adjusting driving factors according to the offline level, and then controlling the vehicle according to the adjusted driving factors.

It is known that this patent does not limit the way to obtain the driver's status information. It can be through a driver monitoring system, or a combination of various techniques such as audio collection, image collection, and neural network models, and can also be obtained by interacting with other devices. The driver's status information specifically includes one or more of his head posture, line of sight angle, yawn frequency, and closed-eye duration, so as to determine the driver's distraction level and fatigue level, thereby assessing his offline level.

The offline level will directly affect driving factors including the first time interval, the first speed, the second time interval threshold, the first distance threshold, and the first weight and the second weight, etc. Adjust the autonomous driving strategy based on the above elements to maintain the activation state of the autonomous driving mode, while reducing risks and improving safety and user experience. This scheme is applicable to the autonomous driving technical scenario from L2 to L3 levels and supports the smooth transition of autonomous driving technology from L2 to L3 levels.

This is not the first new patent for intelligent driving disclosed by Huawei this year. TapTechNews previously also reported Huawei's Alarm method, device and intelligent driving equipment patent, which uses a neural network model to recognize the user's lip language and alarm.
