According to CNNC, the National Uranium No.1 demonstration project is a project in the 14th Five-Year Plan nuclear industry development plan of the National Atomic Energy Agency, with a total investment of about 150 million US dollars (about 1.05 billion yuan), and the key technical indicators are among the forefront in the world.

After completion, this project will become the green, economic, intelligent and efficient natural uranium production base with the largest production capacity and the highest construction standard in China, representing the development level and image of the national natural uranium industry, and will further enhance China's natural uranium guarantee ability, independent innovation ability and international competitiveness of the natural uranium industry.

Unlike traditional mine mining, the National Uranium No.1 adopts the world-leading advanced mining technology of CO₂ + O₂ leaching method, which subverts the traditional underground mining mode of mines. It does not need to mine the ore to the surface for processing, but through the ingenious use of carbon dioxide and oxygen in nature dissolved in water. Through scientific ratio dissolved in water and then injected into the ore-bearing layer, it reacts with uranium in the ore layer, and then the uranium-containing solution is extracted to the surface through the pumping hole and transported to the hydrometallurgical plant for the extraction and recovery of uranium metal, and adopts a closed cycle mode. The hydrometallurgical production workshop adopts quiet automatic operation to realize a new way of uranium mining and metallurgy of zero discharge of three wastes, no ecological damage, and carbon reduction and sustainability.

This way of uranium mining can not only avoid damaging the surface mine landscape, will not produce tailings and waste rocks, and will not pollute the groundwater. The whole process of mining is green and environmentally friendly. When uranium is mined, the common people can still graze sheep and plant crops on this prairie as usual.
