At about 5 p.m. local time on Monday night, the Fremont Fire Department received an alarm that a fire occurred in the two-story building of the Tesla Fremont factory, and the fire alarm level was a level two commercial fire. According to Aisha Knowles, a spokesperson for the Fremont Fire Bureau, the fire brigade controlled the fire within less than an hour after arriving at the scene.

Knowles said the fire started inside a furnace, but the fire department is still investigating the exact cause and nature of the fire. In addition, the Tesla representative present at that time said that all employees had been safely evacuated, and the fire did not cause any casualties.

The Tesla employees in the building where the fire started also evacuated in a timely manner. It is not clear how many fire trucks were dispatched to the scene, but the aerial footage from KTVU shows that there are two fire trucks and two fire department trucks near the Supercharger at the factory site.

TapTechNews noted that in 2021, one of the GigaPress casting machines at Tesla's Fremont factory also had a minor fire with no casualties. Later that month, documents showed that Tesla added additional preventive measures to prevent such problems from happening again.

Last week, Tesla just celebrated the milestone of 3 million electric vehicles produced in its Fremont and Nevada factories, less than two years since the factory's production exceeded 2 million.

Tesla refers to the Fremont factory on its website as its Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y production center, and it is one of the highest capacity automotive factories in the United States. Over the years, due to emissions from the paint shop and the way some hazardous wastes are handled, the factory has been subject to certain scrutiny and legal actions by the California authorities.
