5G-A Officially Goes into Commercial Use in Beijing with Over 7,000 Base Stations Opened

TapTechNews August 25th news, at the 5G-A commercial launch event held on August 23rd, Beijing Mobile announced that as of now, more than 7,000 5G-A base stations have been opened, achieving widespread coverage within the Sixth Ring Road and suburban counties, and launching scenario-based products for the general public, marking the official commercial use of 5G-A in Beijing.

According to the introduction, through the 5G-A Light Up Beijing campaign, Beijing Mobile has achieved the lighting up of 5G-A capabilities in 18 hot spots such as Beijing's Chang'an Avenue, Financial Street, Capital International Airport, and Olympic Center, as well as the main roads such as the Second, Third, and Fourth Rings. The downlink peak rate can reach 5 Gbps, which is 5 times higher than that of the 5G network.

Beijing Mobile has also launched multiple types of products such as 5G-A venue packages, business travel packages, game packages, and live streaming packages for the general public, which can provide a maximum downlink rate of 3 Gbps and an uplink rate of 200 Mbps. Currently, more than 10 terminals such as vivo, OPPO, Honor, and Xiaomi support the 5G-A network.

TapTechNews previously reported that as of the end of July this year, the total number of 5G base stations in China reached 3.996 million, and the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises and China Radio and Television reached 1.772 billion, and the number of 5G mobile phone users reached 950 million. China Mobile's customer data in July showed that the total number of business users that month was close to 1.001 billion, of which about 528 million were 5G users.
