Google's Android 15 QPR1 Beta Update Adds New Features for External Displays

TapTechNews August 25th news, Google released the Android 15 QPR1 Beta update the day before yesterday. According to Android expert Mishaal Rahman, this Beta update shows that Android 15 will add a new page in the settings application, which is very useful for users who like to connect their phones to external displays. The code string discovered by Rahman indicates that users will be able to use the options in Settings > Connected Devices > External Display to make some changes to their external display settings.

TapTechNews noticed that the code string indicates that users will be able to adjust the resolution of the external screen to 1920x1080, 1280x1024 and 1280x720, and under More Options, Advanced resolutions such as 1024x768, 800x600, 720x480, etc. are also listed. Users can also change the rotation of the display from standard to 180°, 270° or 90°. Google points out that if the user changes the rotation angle or resolution of the external display when connecting the external display, the currently running application may stop.

Rahman enabled the new external display settings page on his Pixel 8 Pro, and screenshots of these pages show the presence of a toggle switch that allows users to disable the external display without physically disconnecting the display from the phone.

Allegedly, Google is working hard to improve Android's desktop mode and has been trying to solve the problem that Android's desktop mode is difficult to handle multiple (three or more) windows simultaneously in the past two years.
