2023 Global Game Market Report PC Game Revenue Surpasses 2022

TapTechNews May 23 news, the market research organization Newzoo released the 2023 global game market report on May 16, stating that due to the success of high-scoring games such as Baldur's Gate 3 and multiple factors such as the development of cross-platform games, the PC game revenue in 2023 exceeded that in 2022.

The report shows that the global game market revenue in 2023 is 183.9 billion US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 1.33 trillion RMB), with a year-on-year increase of 0.5% (slightly down compared to the data updated in January). Among them, mobile games account for slightly less than half, with a year-on-year decrease of -2.1% to nearly 90 billion US dollars (currently about 652.5 billion RMB).

The total scale of game consoles and PC games reaches 94 billion US dollars, with a year-on-year increase of 3.1%. Download and boxed PC games, although only accounting for 22% of the total revenue, are the fastest-growing among all market segments, with a year-on-year increase of 8.4%; while the game console market size is 52.4 billion US dollars, with a year-on-year increase of 0.3%.

In 2023, the game consumption amount in China is 44.6 billion US dollars, and the consumption amount in the United States is 46.7 billion US dollars. The game consumption expenditures in these two markets account for 50% of the total consumption expenditures.
