According to Tesla, for some vehicles within the recall range, after the front trunk lid is unlocked, the front trunk latch (TapTechNews note: pronunciation: shuān) lock assembly system may not be able to detect that the front trunk lid is in the unlocked state, and the vehicle cannot issue a prompt of front trunk not locked, and in extreme cases, it may cause the front trunk lid to flip up when the vehicle is driving, affecting the driver's field of vision and increasing the risk of vehicle collision, presenting a safety hazard.

Tesla officials stated that they will use the vehicle's over-the-air (OTA) technology to upgrade the software for the vehicles within the recall range free of charge. The upgraded vehicles can recognize the faulty state of the front trunk latch lock and issue a text and beeping prompt of front trunk not locked.

Tesla will also conduct free repairs for vehicles with detected faulty front trunk latch locks to eliminate safety hazards. If it is not possible to upgrade through OTA technology, Tesla will contact relevant users through Tesla service centers to implement the recall.
