DMA is the abbreviation of Direct MemoryAccess (Direct Memory Access). Originally, it is a computer technology for reading and writing data. The DMA cheat directly accesses the computer memory through special software and hardware tools to read and modify the data in the game memory, so that players can gain an unfair advantage in the game.

On May 6th, the Huangpi District Branch of the Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau received a report from the masses that someone had made and sold the DMA cheat of the game Cross Fire under Tencent Company, which damaged the integrity of the game's computer information system and at the same time led to the suspension of the player's game account by Tencent Company.
After accepting the case, the branch sorted out and investigated the relevant clues in-depth. According to the clues mastered, they traveled far to Wuxi, Liyang in Jiangsu and Dongguan in Guangdong, and successfully arrested 4 criminal suspects.
After investigation, the criminal suspect who directly sold the cheat software to the complainant was originally a Cross Fire game player. During the game process, he came into contact with this DMA cheat through group chat, found that the cheat had powerful functions and was not easy to be intercepted, and there was a large market demand, so he took the risk to contact the seller to purchase goods and sold the cheat through the Internet, and finally was arrested.
According to the confession of this criminal suspect, the case-handling police followed the clues and quickly locked his upline Yang. On May 16th, the case-handling police went to Liyang, Jiangsu, and successfully arrested the criminal suspect Yang. Then, the police interrogated Yang. After mastering conclusive evidence, they made a swift strike again and traveled far to Dongguan, Guangdong to arrest the two criminal suspects Cai and Luo, who were the upline of Yang.
After successfully arresting 4 main criminal suspects, the case investigation work is still continuing. The criminal suspects in this case have been legally taken criminal coercive measures on suspicion of providing programs and tools for invading and illegally controlling computer information systems, providing an example for subsequent arrests of such cheat manufacturing and selling groups.
The Tencent Game Security Team said that it has started technical research on the DMA cheat since the end of 2020 and has established a data of equipment hardware library, interfering with the work of the DMA cheat and banning the use of accounts through technical means. Tencent Games has cumulatively banned 2.288 million illegal accounts and 92,000 illegal machines in the past year, including:

Punishment of AI cheat accounts 26,661.
Punishment of radar perspective (including split-screen radar) cheat accounts 18,983.
Punishment of range damage-enhancing cheat accounts 24,703.
Punishment of mouse macros 14,117.
In addition, Tencent launched the game interruption function in July. When there are suspected or confirmed cheating players in the game, the security system will immediately interrupt the current game and give a prompt, and at the same time, the game result will not be counted to protect the record and ranking points of normal game players.
