TapTechNews October 4th news, the French carmaker Renault has released a hydrogen energy concept car named Embleme, aiming to showcase the huge potential of hydrogen fuel cell technology in future mobility. This concept car will be presented at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.
Embleme is equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell range extender power system, featuring a 30kW fuel cell and a nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery. In cities, the vehicle mainly relies on battery power, while for long-distance travel, the hydrogen fuel cell provides additional range.
Renault claims that Embleme, when fully filled with hydrogen and electricity, can have a range of up to 621 miles (about 1000 kilometers), comparable to that of traditional internal combustion engine cars. And compared to traditional gasoline cars, the life cycle carbon emissions of Embleme are significantly reduced, only one-fifth of that of the gasoline Captur.
According to TapTechNews, the body design of Embleme has been carefully optimized, with an aerodynamic drag coefficient of only 0.25, much lower than that of similar models. By using lightweight materials and advanced manufacturing techniques, the weight of the whole vehicle of Embleme is lighter than that of the electric model on the same platform, further improving energy efficiency.
Although Embleme is a concept car, it is built based on Renault's existing mass production platform, indicating that this technology is expected to be mass-produced in the future.
