Newly-Built Meizhou to Longchuan Railway to Commence Operation in Guangdong, China
TapTechNews July 3rd news, this morning, the joint commissioning and testing of the newly-built Meizhou to Longchuan Railway (Guangdong section of Longlong High-Speed Railway) was initiated, while the Longyan to Wuping section of the Longlong High-Speed Railway was officially opened and put into operation last December.
The newly-built Meizhou to Longchuan Railway is located within the boundaries of Meizhou City and Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. It starts from Meizhou West Station of the Meishan-Swatow Passenger Dedicated Line, passes through Meixian District, Xingning City, Wuhua County, and Longchuan County, and ends at the under-construction Longchuan West Station (excluding) of the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway, roughly running east-west. It is a double-track high-speed railway, with a bridge and tunnel ratio of 82.72%.
According to TapTechNews' inquiry, the main line from the newly-built Meizhou West to Longchuan West (excluding) is 93.986 kilometers long, and there are 4 stations set up along the line, including the newly-built Xingning South Station and Wuhua Station. In the Longchuan area, the up and down connecting lines to the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway are同步 constructed simultaneously, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The project will be opened and put into operation within this year.
The officials also pointed out that Meilong High-Speed Railway is the first 350 km/h high-speed railway fully invested and constructed by Guangdong Province, which is a constituent part of the high-speed passenger transport corridor connecting the eastern Guangdong region with the central and northern regions of China, and an important infrastructure to support the integration of the eastern Guangdong region into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
After the project is completed and opened to traffic, the travel time from Meizhou to the cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen will be shortened to less than 2 hours, which will greatly improve the transport capacity and transport organization efficiency of the corridor.
