Apple's iPhone fails to charge with MagSafe charger in Continuity Camera mode

TapTechNews, June 1st. In a blog post published in May by Adam Engst of the tech media TidBITS, it was stated that when the Continuity Camera is in use, Apple's iPhone cannot charge even when connected to a MagSafe charger.

Apple's official description of the Continuity Camera feature is as follows:

Using the powerful camera system of the iPhone can achieve effects that ordinary webcams couldn't do before, including 'Center Stage', 'Portrait' mode, 'Studio Light', and 'Desk View'.

After using the Continuity Camera in a Zoom meeting once, Engst found that although his iPhone was connected to MagSafe, the battery level decreased significantly.

To find the answer, Engst wrote in the Apple official support documentation:

The Continuity Camera can work via wired or wireless. To use the iPhone while charging, connect it to a Mac or a USB charger. If the iPhone battery level is low, the Mac will notify you.

TapTechNews attached Engst's opinion as follows:

I believe that in the Continuity Camera state, this mode will take up a large amount of the processor load and will cause the iPhone to heat up.

Since MagSafe charging also causes the iPhone to heat up, and it is hotter than USB charging, the battery optimization system of Apple may suspend charging to prevent the battery from overheating. This is a good thing, although it was unexpected at that time.

The continuous camera function is certainly good, but it would be even better if you could reliably charge the iPhone while using it. Apple suggests using a wired charger, but Engst noted that some Reddit users found that even the wired charger doesn't work.
